TRE® (Tension & Trauma Release Exercises)

 

TRE® is a gentle, but powerful somatic practice...

...that will help you cultivate a relaxed, present, open, and liberated state of mind and body. It consists of a series of simple exercises that activate the body’s natural vibrations and pulsations, relaxing the nervous system. This process occurs beneath the level of conscious awareness, yet it does not require you to relinquish conscious control. When done in a safe environment with an experienced provider, it helps restore balance to the nervous system, allows the body to express itself at its own pace, and facilitates a deeper connection with the natural rhythms of your body and mind.

It is common for the body to tremble involuntarily during moments of nervousness or following intense experiences such as car accidents or childbirth. This phenomenon, known as neurogenic tremor, is a natural response that assists the body in recovering from stress and tension. By reactivating this mechanism in a safe setting, we can release chronic stress and tension, and support the body in completing deeper, trauma-locked movements and processes. In addition to stress-release, TRE practice helps you connect to your instincts, foster a sense of safety within the body, increase the capacity for pleasure, and build resilience.
